Board Boss (The company) exists because I believe games can do more than entertain. They can teach, challenge, spark creativity, and bring people together around a table. Writing with Shakespeare is the first step toward that vision.
Over the past two years, through countless playtests, revisions, and conversations with players, this game has evolved from a Master’s dissertation into the fast-playing, strategy game it is today. Every prototype has taught me something new. Some rules have been rewritten, cards have been cut, mechanics have been refined, and dozens of play testers have helped shape what the game is becoming.
This newsletter is where I'll share that journey.
You won't just get announcements. I'll be sharing design decisions, convention stories, historical discoveries, behind-the-scenes looks at publishing a tabletop game, and occasional peeks into the successes—and mistakes—that happen along the way.
One of the ideas I'm most excited about is something I call the The Marginalia. If you're the kind of person who enjoys learning why a mechanic changed, where a historical reference came from, or what goes into publishing a board game, that's where I'll be documenting the process in detail.
I plan on sending out another flyer shortly, which will discuss where Writing with Shakespeare is in development, as well as some of the big changes that have taken place over the year! For now, thank you for joining me this early in the adventure. Whether you're here as a player, a play-tester, a teacher, a theatre enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys seeing creative projects come to life, I'm grateful you're here to collaborate with me.
